There are many different types of bite occlusion. Characteristic of an incorrect bite occlusion is the faulty position of the jawjoint. This can lead to problems with the masseter, which in turn can cause many unwanted symptoms, such as sleeping disorder, headaches, under-eye edema and numbness of the arm during sleep.

The CENTROCC name is an acronym of the term CENTRalis OCClusio, meaning central bite occlusion (Picture 3). Pictures 1 and 2 show incorrect bite occlusion, which is characteristic of 70% of the adult population.
